Hello and welcome.
It's a great thrill to be bringing you such a sensational line up of talent for the 2007 National Screenwriters’ Conference Holding Onto Your Vision. Historically the conference has been a highlight of the professional calendar, and is always a wonderful way to become inspired, informed, meet new people, make new deals, and catch up with old friends. It's a hell of a lot of fun too!
This year is particularly exciting as the NSC has come into the Australian Writers’ Guild fold - so now not only is this a great event for writers, it's being run by writers. We have an exceptional conference committee which includes some of the best, most experienced writers and producers from every medium who have designed a program chock o'block full of informative, entertaining, illuminating and sometimes contentious sessions.
At the heart of this conference is a desire to inspire, create and celebrate the best of screenwriting from Australia and around the world. The 2007 NSC is about creating opportunities and industry links, sharing knowledge and experience, and learning from the most talented and experienced of our peers, both local and international.
This year’s conference will be held at Marylands Country House, Marysville – in the heart of the Mystic Mountains. The perfect escape from the city, Marysville is a two hour drive from Melbourne through some of the most spectacular scenery that Victoria has to offer. Marylands is a wonderful place to enjoy warm spring days and cool evenings by the open fire... and if the sessions aren't enough to quench your appetite for a full weekend then good food and wine, lovely surrounds, sauna, spa, indoor pool, billiards... even a croquet lawn and volleyball court should keep you more than busy. Or you can simply enjoy some good conversation in the bar after hours.
All this and a jam-packed program make the NSC a weekend not to be missed!
We look forward to seeing you there.
